The Oleostar group consists of the valves that control pressure and load in a hydraulic circuit. Most of the stock divides into two jobs: holding a load in the air, and limiting pressure.
A load-holding (over-centre) valve stops a load from running away under its own weight — it is mandatory in every application with a risk of falling, such as crane booms, tippers and platforms. The load stays put even if a hose bursts. A relief valve sets the system's upper pressure and dumps the excess to tank; it is the fuse of the pump and the circuit.
The valves come in two body styles: line-mounted (connected directly into pipework) and cartridge (screwed into a manifold block). The thread size of the cartridge type is given in the code (3/4 16 UNF, M22x1.5 and so on) and must match the cavity in the block exactly.
